About Us
Honoring The Legacy • Empowering Communities • Inspiring Action
We educate, engage, and empower communities through:
-
Advocacy & Action
We empower individuals to actively engage in democracy by advocating at school board and commissioner meetings, promoting voter registration, hosting symposiums and effectively communicating needs in the community. Through education and action, we inspire civic participation at every level.
-
Economic Empowerment
By amplifying the cooperative movement, we educate stakeholders and political leaders on the power of cooperative businesses to foster economic resilience. We support the development of cooperatives as a means of community determination and sustainable economic growth.
-
Community Engagement
We foster civic engagement by hosting free screenings of Fundi: The Story of Ella Baker, featuring a limited exhibit and Q&A sessions, as well as through study circles on cooperative models and Ella Baker Talks, which inspire collective action and grassroots leadership.
-
Living her Legacy
We bring history to life through the Ella Baker Tour, Ella Baker History Presentations, Walking in Her Shoes experince and dynamic exhibits that showcase her legacy, The annual Ella Baker Honors Award recognizes local advocates who embody her spirit of activism
We believe that democracy belongs to the people and that real change starts from the ground up.
